The successful applicant will be expected to:
Maintain a nationally and internationally recognized extramurally funded research program.
Contribute to the Department’s teaching and service efforts at the undergraduate and graduate levels in the candidate’s area of expertise.
Recruit and mentor graduate students.
Qualifications Applicants must have an earned doctorate in Physiology, Kinesiology, or related discipline, current faculty status, and an active research program.
Applicants must demonstrate a record of scholarly publications in peer-reviewed journals and evidence of a record of extramural support for research activities.
Preferred Qualifications Priority will be given to candidates with an active research program related to mitochondrial function or dynamics in diseases of the cardiovascular and/or musculoskeletal systems.
The ideal candidate should have longstanding expertise in assessment of mitochondrial respiration.
Other Information The Department of Health, Nutrition, and Food Sciences at Florida State University is seeking an Exercise Physiology scientist to fill a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Associate Professor.
Applicants are expected to have and develop an active extramurally funded research program that will enhance the Department’s ongoing research activity.
Priority will be given to candidates with a research focus on mitochondrial function or dynamics in diseases of the cardiovascular and musculoskeletal systems.
The salary and startup package is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
The Department of Health, Nutrition, and Food Sciences is the 6th largest department at Florida State University (FSU), with 1,250 undergraduate and 100 graduate students.
The Department offers undergraduate majors in Exercise Physiology, Nutrition & Food Science, Dietetics, and Athletic Training; master’s degrees in Nutrition & Food Science, Exercise Physiology, Sports Nutrition, and Sports Sciences; and doctoral degrees in Nutrition & Food Science and Exercise Physiology.
The faculty in the department have expertise in exercise physiology, nutrition, and food sciences with areas of research interest related to obesity, aging, skeletal muscle and cardiovascular physiology, sports nutrition, functional foods, the gut microbiome, cancer, smoking/vaping, and alcohol abuse.
The candidate will have the unique opportunity in this collaborative environment to integrate their expertise in mitochondrial function/dynamics with a wide array of expertise in the above-listed areas.
