Responsibilities
This nine-month, full-time tenure-track position begins August 2024.
The new colleague will have graduate and undergraduate teaching responsibilities, student mentoring and advising, and professional service at the departmental, college and university levels.
Additionally, the new faculty member will be expected to maintain a consistent agenda of research and/or creative activity and engage in ongoing professional development in their area of expertise that leads to recognition with the dance field.
Qualifications
The Florida State University (FSU) School of Dance (SoD) is seeking a new colleague to join our well-established dance program.
FSU SoD is looking for an experienced artist with a strong professional profile in choreography, studio practice, and mentoring to join the prestigious FSU faculty in teaching graduate and undergraduate level courses.
The candidate should possess an extensive knowledge of the dance field, with knowledge of its history, lineages and current practices.
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated teaching ability and experience in one or more contemporary techniques and other studio and performance practices.
The ability to teach graduate level choreography classes and a rigorous studio practice is essential to the position, as is a collegial approach to facilitating creative and critical learning.
Encouraging fluidity across the domains involved in dance as art is a priority in our program.
The ideal candidate will have a doctoral degree from an accredited institution or the highest degree appropriate in the field of specialization with a demonstrated record of achievement in teaching, academic research, and service.
