Summary The Math Specialist collaborates with other specialists as part of the Academic Impact Team within Pearson Virtual School (PVS).
This team is dedicated to enhancing educational outcomes by developing specialized programs aimed at training and advancing evidence-based math best practice for virtual learning.
The Math Specialist is an expert in the PVS math instructional framework and focuses on training and influencing school leadership teams and teachers as they incorporate best practice in school improvement planning and daily instruction.
The Math Specialist collaborates with Partner Success team members and Instructional Partners to assist schools in the implementation of evidence-based strategies.
The Math Specialist plays a critical role in supporting the PVS commitment to achieving established learner outcomes.
Core Tasks and Responsibilities Develops, coordinates and facilitates training and professional development to schools in order to build capacity in the area of math Works to coordinate efforts with math champions at Partner Schools Creates and implements resource groups targeting math instructional strategy and best practice at Partner Schools Facilitates training for internal and external stakeholders on topics related to supporting schools with math; Acts as internal math consultant for PVS teams Assists with the implementation of schoolwide and individual math strategies Works collaboratively with members of CSP and other key teams to advocate for math initiatives Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills, Experience, and Competencies Minimum of 5 years of work experience, specific to math education Experience working in a leadership role Master’s Degree preferred Excellent software skills, especially with Microsoft Office Strong analytical skills Excellent interpersonal, written communication skills Strong facilitation skills with the ability to navigate difficult conversations Experience with change management Superior listening and problem-solving skills Ability to work effectively both with and without supervision Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships at all levels of the organization Must thrive in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment, with ability to manage multiple, competing priorities Demonstrated ability to learn quickly and work well in team environment Key relationships Works closely with other members of the Academic Impact Team, including the Product Specialist, the Literacy Specialist, the Instructional Coaching Specialist, the Leadership Specialist, and the DEI Specialist Works closely with various Curriculum and Product team members, including the Research and Analysis Team Partners with Service Delivery Pod members and the Partner Success Team Compensation at Pearson is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific location.
As required by the Colorado, California, Washington State, New York State and New York City laws, the pay range for this position is as follows: The minimum full-time salary range is between $70,000 - $80,000.
