The Office of Commercialization within the Office of Research seeks to fill the Senior Director position.
Responsibilities
Provides leadership for and oversight of Commercialization operations & personnel, including, but not limited to the activities of protection and commercialization of FSU innovations carried out by the licensing managers, administrative and support functions, and programs supporting commercialization of FSU innovations.
Develops internal processes and procedures that govern the function and management of Commercialization to provide accountability and stewardship of resources and IP assets.
Administers the FSU annual operating budget, as well as the FSU Research Foundation annual operating budget, for the Office of Commercialization.
Training and development of commercialization staff, including providing leadership and direction for the licensing managers in identifying and evaluating IP generated at FSU for possible protection, marketing, licensing or otherwise transferring to the marketplace.
Develop and implement strategies and initiatives to meet state, FSU, and Research strategic plans.
In coordination with the Strategic Partnerships and Innovation efforts develop and support campus programs such as the GAP Commercialization Investment competition, Discovery on Parade, the Innovators' Reception, etc.
, to facilitate and leverage commercialization of FSU innovations and interaction with industry.
Support FSU educational and research efforts regarding innovation and commercialization, such as serving on the strategic plan implementation committee, providing expertise to the College of Entrepreneurship, providing data for university wide reports, etc.
Represent FSU in a variety of local, state, and national venues that promote interactions with other universities, industry, and the business community.
Qualifications
Master's degree and five years of commercialization experience or a Bachelor's degree and seven years of commercialization experience.
Two years of experience must be in a supervisory role.
