Summary/Purpose
The Setter will plan and perform grinding setups on a variety of machines to produce parts ground to customer specifications.
Machines include Centerless, End Grind, Dial Grinder, O/D Grind operations and Surface Grind operations
Essential Duties and Accountabilities:
• Monitor machine production constantly and make accurate adjustments to produce close tolerance precision parts.
• Meet or exceed customer requirements for specifications that may include size, roundness, marks, taper, micro, length, squareness.
• Run out perform charting as required.
• Perform preventative maintenance functions as required.
• Setup, adjust and maintain gauges according to work instructions.
• Properly document all actions as required.
• Changes worn tools as required.
• Clean and lubricate machines as needed.
• Troubleshoot work-related problems maintaining a troubleshooting logbook.
• Read blue prints or job order for product specifications.
• Perform SPC charting and properly document all production and quality measures.
• Must participate on Quality Circle Committee.
• Understand and follow reaction plans.
• Work in teams to achieve departmental and company goals and objectives.
• Perform related tasks as defined by the Department Supervisor.
• Work safely to prevent on-the-job injuries.
• Maintain knowledge of current quality and safety system(s) and other regulatory compliance related to this position.
Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Strong mechanical/troubleshooting skills (Assessment will be given)
• Use of automatic and manual gages
• Use of hand tools including wrenches, screw drivers, ratchets
• Math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, decimals, conversion from English to Metric and vice versa
• Blueprint reading
• Problem solving skills
• Fundamental computer skills
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to work weekends and overtime as requested by Manager
Education and Experience:
• High School Diploma or GED equivalent
• Two years plus experience in manufacturing processes

• Work is performed in a normal manufacturing area.
• This position has an exposure to moderate noise levels, moving mechanical parts, electrical power distribution and controls, compressed air systems, hydraulic systems, steam distribution and generation, water, various types of lubricants, chemical and wash baths, extreme heat, mechanical machine operation, etc.
• Will be regularly required to climb, stand, sit, and reach with hands, fingers, and arms.
• Occasional stooping, kneeling, and crouching are required.
• This position requires regular lifting of work up to 40 pounds, and push or pulling work up to 125 pounds with proper equipment.
